Hotels in Edinburgh
Edinburgh is very small and well connected, so booking a little out of the centre is not a problem. Google maps is the best way to get around. Busses are great, and you can pay with contactless. If you get the tram remember to get a ticket on the platform. Uber will take you anywhere you need to go.
If you are looking for Airbnbs: the south of the city will be cheaper but older. New town/Stockbridge will be more expensive but nicer. Don’t book in Granton/Nidrie/Blackford hill. Leith is ok but can be run down.
